About – Suzanna Sloan
Hi, my yoga history dates back 20 years when I started practising in London. I began teacher training in 2013 and I have been teaching classes since 2014. I love to teach those who are completely new to the practice of yoga or who have injuries/conditions where the continual practice of yoga improves their daily life.
I trained with Sarah Powers and Paul Grilley the leading Yin Yoga teachers in the US. I am a student of the Insight Yoga Institute whose philosophy includes integrating yoga, Buddhism and spiritual psychology into a practice focusing on the balance of the body, heart and mind.
What is Yin Yoga?
For thousands of years the Chinese have advocated that our bodies are made up of a dynamic energy system that although unseen is the vital force in all life and the foundation of all vitality. This energy or chi flows along meridian lines (invisible channels) that flow through all our bones, tissues and organs.
Just as in acupuncture, in order to maintain meridian health – we need to ensure the meridian system is stimulated and serviced regularly so it operates at its peak and maintains balance not only to the body but also the mind and our spirit.
The benefits include reduction of inflammation, rehabilitation of the joints, positive mood and energy enhancement. In particular, students enjoy greater sleep quality and energy levels.
